The Dorm not Taken

Two dorms diverged in a roomdraw map
and sorry I could not choose both
And be one student, long I stood
and looked at one as deep as I could
to where it bent within the dorm;

Then took the other, just as fair,
and having perhaps the better location
because it was near Val and not wanted wear;
though as for that, the students there
had worn them really about the same

And both that evening equally lay
on map no permanent marker had trodden black
Oh I kept the first for another year!
Yet knowing how random leads on to roomdraw,
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two dorms diverged in a roomdraw map and I--
I took the one further away from campus,
and that has made all the difference

Dear Fellow Students,

After many years, we at NOTE are finally saying goodbye to roomdraw. It's been fun and full of many memorable moments. Who can forget the mid-roomdraw ticker rewrites, or the infamous messages sent through the update window? We'll miss the long nights --wait a second, no we won't. Since you'll no longer be able to enjoy our roomdraw wit, included is some poetry to hold you through the long dark sleepless nights as you cry over this year's room selection. I'd like to thank all the people who made NOTE Roomdraw successful through their hard work and motivation. Thanks also to the housing department for their support and dedication towards this student run organization. We wish them good luck in the future. And finally thanks to you students for making it fun and a worthwhile project. From all of us here at NOTE, "so long and thanks for all the fish."

Sincerely,

Tosin, Nick, Wing, Carl, Jon, David
and the rest of the roomdraw staff

I was the slightest in the House --
I took the smallest Room --
At night, my little Lamp, and Book --
And one Geranium --

So stationed I  could catch the Mint
That never ceased to fall --
And just my Basket --
Let me think --I'm sure
That this was all --

I never spoke -- unless addressed --
And then, 'twas brief and low --
I could not bear to live --aloud --
The Racket shamed me so --

And if it had not been so far --
And any one I knew
Were going -- I had often often thought
How NOTEless -- I could die --

Abandon all hope
Roomdraw time is here again
Pick out your new hell

No, not social dorm!
Be kind to poor introvert
Somebody kill me

Hamilton lonely
I shall be such a hermit
But single, I have!

Coolidge, Stone, Crossett --
Ah! the little red school house --
Davis and Pond too

Why should I be here?
I live in a cool theme house
No roomdraw for me

Hamilton bye-bye
I wish I lived there this year
Senior year will suck

Roomdraw is over
The good rooms are all taken
Good luck with opt-out

NOTE roomdraw shuts down
Too much work to be worth it
We're lazy: sue us

There once was a single in Pratt
Whose occupant thought it was phat
Taken by seniors
too bad, rising juniors
There's always the mods and all that.
